Happy 27th week birthday!!
You're so big sweetie. You've had a lot of developments this week.
According to Pampers, after being fused shut for more than four months, your eyelids can open again. This, combined with the facts that the visual part of your brain is active and most eye structures are complete, means you can see the world around you, limited though it may be. You can't make out objects yet, but you see light and shadows.
By paying attention to your movements inside of me, I can get a good idea of how you spend your days...and nights. Just like babies in their mothers' arms, you get lulled to sleep by rocking. Your daily activities may not feel like rocking to you, but the amniotic fluid provides such a cushion that all you feel is gentle swaying. So you're likely to sleep more during the day. It may be a different story at night, once I lie down to get some rest. Suddenly, you're awake and ready to party!
You will gain about 1 pound over the next month. This week, you're up to 13 inches, crown to rump, and weigh about 2 pounds. Though you're growing quickly, your brain and lungs are still immature. Luckily, you've got 13 more weeks to get ready for the outside world.
Hope you're enjoying yourself in there. Love you!
