3 years: Playing Candy Land
We got to see your competitive side last night when we played Candy Land. I won the first round and it devastated you. You were sobbing over not winning. Daddy told you that no one likes a sore loser and that you had to work on your sportsmanship. We went into round two with you saying every five seconds, "I'm going to win! I'm going to win!" You did indeed win and everything was right in your world again.
3 years: New baby in our neighborhood
One of our neighbors had a baby last week, a little baby boy. We were eating outside and their daughter told us that her little brother had been born and was back from the hospital. A lot of our neighbors stopped to congratulate the family and then after we had dinner we stopped by as well.
You weren't really into meeting the baby but got much more into it once we sat down and were offered chocolates and honey cookies to welcome the new child. Our neighbors are from Oman and are here at CU while the Daddy completes his PhD. You play with their three older children, mostly the two young brothers who you like to chase around. The house was full of a few women from their masjid, one from Oman, one from Dubai, and one from Saudi Arabia, all here at CU completing their studies. The women were taking care of everything for the Mommie, Maria. They were cooking and cleaning and entertaining while Maria got to rest while her new baby son slept on the floor next to her.
So nice to see, this community of women, caring for each other.

3 years: Haircut time!
We finally got you a haircut last night. Here are some before photos:
That's your new taking a photo look...so much for smiling.
There it goes again...
Close up of your luscious hair
Look at those pretty curls! You get those from your Mommie
At Great Clips...look at this big tub of lollipops.
Mercedes cutting your hair. I asked her if she was from New Mexico because she had a New Mexican accent and she said her Dad was from Las Vegas, New Mexico so that's how she got the accent. She told us about a church near Santa Fe where there is holy mud that cured her paraplegic son.
Halfway there! Notice the 2 lollipops in your mouth.
Checking out your blue tongue in the mirror
After! A little bit short but it'll be good for summer
When we got home we had to rush over to water the garden before it got dark.
You're such a good helper and Mommie got smart and now I give you the watering can instead of the hose. It means that I get to stay nice and dry.
You're very meticulous
Maybe you'll be a farmer?
All the veggies are doing really well. On the left is the broccoli and then lettuce all around. Man, we have to weed this weekend!!
Yummie lettuce mix! These come from these free organic seed packets they had at Noodle & Company. I should have taken more!
Corn for days! This corn comes from free corn seed packets that Whole Foods gave me for Mother's Day. They were expired but most of them have sprouted.
More watering

3 years: Mommie's office
Since you got to see what Daddy's office looks like I thought I'd take photos of my office since it wasn't a total disaster for the first time in the last month. You like taking the elevator to the 4th floor (my floor) and running down the hall to my office.
Welcome to Mommie's office!
Mommie is official!
Your art gallery! You're so talented, my sweetie pie
The rest of the wall
My desk
Messy bookshelf
On my desk
View from my desk
Pretty art
My little fountain to calm me throughout the day, you're the little reindeer
I teach leadership so lots of leadership/social justice books
Front of my door...some of your artwork is up here too
This is where the magic happens.
