Week 32: What a year!

As we conclude this year there is so much to be thankful for, where do I start?

A year ago now your Mommy, her sister, and I were making plans for my move back to Massachusetts and boy was it crazy, I think it added years to my life!

Now here we are again, planning another move! The more things change the more they stay the same huh?

Anyhow, we made it to Northampton and I was fortunate enough to find work quick and be with your Mommy during those last months before you joined us. Along the way I've grown closer to your Mommy's family and of course your Mommy. Boy is she something special. You being born was everything I thought it might be and more. Your Mommy was so good in labor and thankfully we had help in a Doula, Jen, and thankfully everything went fine and you were born healthy. I even caught you, with the help of some nurses, and then got to cut your umbilical cord. As I carried you to put you on your Mommy's chest the tears started flowing from both her and my eyes, it was so beautiful. I really could never have imagined how nice it would be to watch you be born.

Anyways, we whisked you away to our wonderful apartment, that your Mommy found all by herself, and next thing you know you got huge! I hardly can remember you as little as you were born. All I picture now is your chubby cheeks and big butt! That amazing smile and big eye lashes. You are so beautiful Octavio. Oh and to me your name fits you perfect O. Octavio, it really is a great name for a great baby!

Your Mommy went through so much having to see you in daycare for a few months and I was so happy to be able to support our little family and allow your Mommy to stay at home with you, of course with the help of your Mommy's family, which has been great to me since I met them. I couldn't have imagined being accepted like a son as quickly as I have and am so grateful for this. Just today we were at their house and it was so nice to see you laughing with Papa Cesar and your Lela Carmen, and Tia Jomaira.

Not to be outdone is how great my family has been as well, we had such a nice Christmas with them this year. I can't wait for next year and can only imagine how you'll be when you can walk around! Watch out Christmas tree!

You know I got this great job and so far the transition to another state, Connecticut, has been pretty smooth, if you ask me it's almost like this was meant to be. I'm a firm believer in destiny, and have little doubt meeting your Mommy, the love of my life, and having you the second love of my life, was meant to be for me.

I'm not much of a religious person but as far as destiny goes I think there is some personal choice you have that affects things in a unique way. Destiny plays an important but small role, which is placing you in the time and place where dependent on the actions you take there and then can lead to something special. Lucky for me I made the right choices and here I am, with you and your Mommy living the good life. Right now you are sleeping on my chest, and your Mommy is sleeping in our bed. I can see you both sleeping at the same time, so cute the two of you. Almost time for me to join your Mommy with you in bed to complete the family bed.

Love you O, forever and ever.
