Week 22: Life at the casa

Hi sweet pea. :)

How are you doing in there? You have been moving around a lot in the last little bit...maybe it's all the Hershey Kisses I had.

We're home now. Mommie has been very tired so we took a nap when we got home from work. While I was sleeping, Daddy made dinner for us: rice, fish and platanos. Yummie! There was a small mishap in the kitchen and we learned that our smoke detectors do indeed work. Our downstairs neighbor came to see if everything was okay so we got to meet her. She seems really nice and told us we can ask her if we need anything.

Your Daddy is playing XBox right now. He likes to be a manager on NBA Live and pick the players and all that stuff. It's very cute, he gets really into it. I wonder if you'll like video games.

We were reading Goodnight Little Mouse to you last night again and Mommie got the giggles. There's a part that says that foxes bark and your Daddy said, "foxes are sly, they don't bark" and that we shouldn't be lying to you. Luckily though, according to Fox Watch Ireland:

Can foxes bark?

Foxes are sometimes known to bark exactly like dogs when warning cubs of danger. Most of the time though, vocalisation is very different from any other canid, the fox having a more higher and dragged out voice that has the distinct sound of something from the wild.

Good, I'm glad we're not lying to you. It is kind of a weird book, it's probably why I like it so much. Well, we might go for a short walk so I'll say bye for now. I love you!

Week 22: A New Life

Hi O,

It's Daddy, I'm taking a break from organizing our new apartment because I haven't written to you in a while, although I think of you all the time! I've done like a hundred loads of laundry, as your Mommy would say, "laundry for days." Still got a few more but can see sofa that was covered in clothes to wash when we first moved stuff in to the apartment, I knew it was under there, at least I hoped. lol. Anyways, things are ok with me, little worried about getting a job, and come Monday think I'm going to try to get a temporary job doing anything until I get a better job. You know staying at home isn't the fun one might think it is! Especially when the apartment needs so much work. I feel like all I do is move stuff from one room to another and until I throw out some stuff feel like I haven't been holding up my share, while your Mommy on the other hand, pregnant with you no less, is hard at work. Love you O and hope you know I'm trying my hardest to support you and Mommy as best I can. In the recent ultrasound you looked so big! Poor Mommy has been feeling you poke her and sometimes it bothers her, but we know you don't mean to hurt Mommy, unless you hear her say mean things to Daddy, then poke away! Love you and see you soon O.

Week 22: Kicks for Days

Hi O. :)

So remember how much I wanted to feel your kicks in the past few weeks? Well, I'm feeling them all the time now and sometimes they hurt! Yesterday at work you decided to snuggle right under my left ribcage and I felt a lot of pokes during the day. You weren't moving around much at all so you must have fallen asleep. The other day I felt a poke on my right hand side so hard that I had to get up from bed and I think I scared your Daddy.

At our last ultrasound you were in child's pose position for most of the time, like this:

Is that how you sleep? I hope you're having fun in there and that you have enough room to move around for now because you won't very soon.

Yesterday after work your Daddy picked me up and we went to Target to pick up a few things for the apartment. When we got home I took a bath and it felt so nice to be in there and made my back feel much better. Your Daddy has also been giving me massages which is great. After that I made tacos with veggie ground "beef" and we sat down to eat at the kitchen table. Your Daddy was crazy busy yesterday and the apartment is looking so nice already.

Last night was Latin Night at the Iron Horse and I thought about going but at 10pm we had just finished eating and I looked over at your Daddy and then I looked at me. We were both wearing a sweatshirt and pajama pants and I thought maybe this is not the week to go. Your Daddy said we could still go that he just had to put his Tims on so that we could do our signature move on the dance floor. Our move is kinda like how guys do with their chest when they score a point, only instead of our chest, we do it with our bellies. We'll have to show you sometime.

Since it was getting pretty late we headed to bed. Your Daddy read The Big Con: The Story of the Confidence Man by David Maurer...is he trying to learn how to be a conman?

Mommie read Belly Laughs by Jenny McCarthy which is really funny and talks about the ups and downs of pregnancy.

Speaking of which, Mommie has been very emotional lately. I'm generally very happy most of the time but I can start crying at the drop of a hat. I hope it's the hormones. Your Daddy has been very supportive and given me lots of tissues (see, now I'm crying again). We're very lucky to have him in our lives, little O.

It's time for us to eat lunch sweetie. I love you. :)

Week 22: Happy Cumplesemana!

Good afternoon, O. :)

Happy 22nd week Birthday!!

Oh my...I really can't believe you're 22 weeks. This is going by so quickly. Your Daddy and I were laying in bed the other night and he said, O will be here in 4 months and I couldn't believe it. 4 months? You'll be out in the world? Crazy!

According to my baby newsletter, you look like a minitaure newborn and weigh about 1 pound now. Your lips are becoming more distinct, and the first signs of teeth are appearing as buds beneath your gum line. Your eyes are developed, though the iris (the colored part of the eye) still lacks pigment. It doesn't say what fruit or vegetable you look like this week either. I guess you're past that phase now that you look human-like.

Well, let's see. You had a busy day yesterday. Your Tio Jonathan and Titi Lisa and Titi Jomaira so kindly came to help us move. It was raining and sleeting yesterday and they came really early to help which was so nice of them. We couldn't have done it without their help.

Yesterday was also your cousin Jalil's 5th birthday. Happy Birthday Jalil! Unfortunately, we won't be able to attend his birthday party as we'll be in New Mexico that weekend.

When your Tio and Titis came yesterday Daddy pulled the UHaul up to our driveway and they unloaded everything so quickly. After that we went out to breakfast at Jake's and got some food and then they left back to Connecticut. Tio Jonathan and Titi Lisa also gave us some yummie sweets and a beautiful saying in celebration of Eid al-Adha, the Festival of Sacrifice. Thank you so much Jonathan, Lisa and Jomaira!!

After your familia left we started doing laundry, watched the L Word and then took a nap. I was really tired because we had gotten up early. When we woke up we went to the store to get some things for the apartment and went grocery shopping. When we got home your Daddy continued to put things away while I made dinner, rice and beans and pasta. Yummie! Our kitchen table was not set up yet so Daddy put the coffee table down and we had dinner sitting on the floor.

Mommie is at work for the first time since December 20th and it feels weird to be away from your Daddy. We've been together pretty much for all of that time. I have your five month ultrasound picture on my desk and also a picture of your Daddy so you're both keeping me company. This morning your Daddy woke up at 7am to wake me up but I couldn't get out of bed so he let me sleep a little while longer. You were up too and moving around a lot. Then we had breakfast and he drove me to work so he can learn how to get here and we said goodbye. Daddy is at home now putting everything in place because your Titis are visiting this weekend and I'm going to go have lunch. I love you sweet pea!
