20 months: Sleep!
For the last week you've been sleeping in your own room either in your crib or your bed (yes, you have both...crazy, we know). I'm so proud of you sweetie pie! You're not falling asleep by yourself yet but we'll keep plugging away at that. You're the best. I love you!

20 months: $$$
Yesterday we spent $100 on diapers and wipes. Yes, on DIAPERS and WIPES. Target had the diapers and wipes you use on clearance and so I went a little crazy and got 4 boxes of diapers and a box of wipes -- total, with tax was $102.52. Crazyness!
I actually wanted to get 5 boxes of diapers but I thought your Daddy would think I was a little crazy. I thought that if I only got 4 boxes that he would think that was aokay. But apparently 4 was too much because he does think it was a bit crazy but I hate being out of diapers and you're going to use them anyway and they were on clearance and now hopefully we don't have to buy diapers from CVS.
CVS is my arch nemesis. We live less than a mile away from a CVS that is open 24 hours so we can hit them up if you're out of diapers at, I don't know, 3am. However, I don't like buying them at CVS because, and don't let those extra care bucks fool you, as someone who used to shop there all the time (in fact, Lela Carmen used to say that I should have stock in the company because I was there so much) and also as someone who worked there I know that CVS is horribly horribly overpriced. Also they usually only have a small pack of your diapers so not only are we out of a lot of moula but we're back at square one in a few days again. Ahhhh!
Anyhoo, you now have 416 diapers and 700-something wipes sitting happily in the closet. I hope once we're done with these we can start potty training. Hopefully that won't be soon though. I love you sweetie pie!

20 months: Sleep training is horrible
Today is night 3 of hell sleep training at the Octavio household. As I type this you are crying in the next room. :(
We decided it was time for you to make your way over to your own bed so we started helping you sleep in your crib on Friday night. It did not go well. You cried and screamed and cried and screamed for hours. You would start to calm down and then start all up again. Eventually you fell asleep though and would wake up every hour or so but put yourself to sleep. Needless to say you didn't sleep very well and neither did I.
It's been so sad to not have you in bed with us. I love waking up to your sweet little face. I like not having to worry about you since you're right next to me every night. In fact, since you were born, I think the number of nights that you haven't slept right next to me is 6 or 7 times. 5 of those nights were when we were at the hospital and they had you in the bassinet. So sad. :(
We're going to keep trying though. I know you can do this sweetie. I love you!

20 months: Kisses
All you want to eat these days (besides backa-backa, that is) are Hershey's Kisses. A year ago this would have greatly concerned me but as a mama of a crazy twenty month old it doesn't seem to be bothering me much at all. Mwahaha...how things have changed.
In other news, training for this 5k is kicking mama's bootay. Your Daddy has left my training group (we're put in groups by our experience, age, ability, etc.) and is now in the more advanced 201 group so he's training for a 10k or half marathon or something...which means more running for him...mwahaha! But he loves running so that's aokay. He's so cute in his little running clothes too. He wears this little red hoodie that makes him look like this:

Anyhoo, we almost died this past weekend. You had a bad stomach bug and were throwing up and pooping everywhere and then you gave it to us and we ended up doing the same thing. Luckily we were over Lela Mayela's house and she took good care of you for days while we laid in bed. Thank you Lela Mayela! Feeling much better now though. At certain points throughout the weekend, mostly when I was throwing up uncontrollably I was reminded of May 13th and 14th, 2007. Yes, the time I was in labor with you. Ahhhh!!! To think that I'll (hopefully) have to go through that again at some point...shivers down my spine I tell you, shivers down my spine.
Well, we have to go clean before Daddy gets home. You help me put the laundry in our amazing built in laundry basket contraption thing in the bathroom. Bye for now my sweetie pie. Mama loves you!

20 months: Wow, the times does go by fast!
20 weeks old. That's how old you are now, you turned yesterday. You run around (quick too) climb up on everything (lately the table in the living/dining room has been your favorite), want to eat very little that isn't ice cream and hate to go to sleep (just like Daddy).
It's funny because while I'm talking about your sleep, or lack of it, I think I should tell you that I don't know what I'm going to do when you sleep in your own bed/crib? While having a little more space and alone time with your Mama is always desired, I will miss cuddling you at night and waking up on the weekends to your hugs and kisses. The last few nights you've been climbing up on my chest to go to sleep (so I've been told because I've been so tired I don't realize it!), and will miss this too.
I hope you know how much I love you O.
In other news, we had a nice time this past weekend, at Foxwoods. We got a great deal on a room and it was nice to get away from the real world and go to a hotel (I love hotels!) and just relax. I even won $45 playing blackjack (don't gamble, and don't read this until you're my age to temp you to gamble) for the first time. Your mother had a nice alone moment taking a bath and reading a book and wish she had more time like this because she does so much for you and I that I worry she'll burn out from everything.
We've been taking you to the local library in West Hartford a lot since you can run around and play with plastic food and little trains and whatnot in a designated child area, probably go there tonight actually.
Oh and your mother and I have been training for a 5k, and your mother in particular has been doing a great job of staying on top of her training. I started this 100 pushup challenge and the other day did 43 consecutive pushups, so getting close to halfway to my goal.
What else? I've been waiting to hear good news from potential law schools, and can't wait to hear I got into any one of the million I applied to, because then I'll at least know I'll be attending law school somewhere this fall., hopefully somewhere warm.
Well, sorry I haven't written in some time, make no excuses, or promises but hope to write more often now. Love you tons and while I get sad to see you grow up so quick I get excited about what more we can do together. Trips hiking, playing sports, shopping, going to the movies, can't wait for them all to come true O. You're the best son a father could ask for and I'd do anything for you little man.
Love,
Pa
