2 years: Tio Toti

This morning we got up and went to go have lunch with Tio Toti near his job. It was a bit cold but you were still very excited to ride the train to the Copley stop. We got to see the building where Tio Toti works and then he took us for a yummie lunch at a Mediterranean restaurant named Vlora. You ate like crazy and then we went shopping for gloves for Daddy.

You loved their Chicken and Rice Soup...look at the cute bowl it came in!

Daddy! With yummie hummus

Mama!

2 years: Mommie got a job!

On Friday Mommie got a call letting her know that she got a job! When we first moved to Boulder, the idea was that you'd go to the university's preschool and that I'd get a job while Daddy was in law school. Then I went a bit crazy and decided I wanted to stay home with you and then went a bit crazy again and decided that it was best for us for me to work. Ahhh!! Silly mama.

Anyhoo, I have been applying for positions only in Boulder because while there are many, many, many more jobs in Denver, with traffic the commute can be up to an hour each way and that was a bit much. I also wanted a position in something I was passionate about so there weren't many positions to apply to when we first moved here. Daddy was fully supportive of this decision which I really appreciate. I group interviewed for a Social Studies/History high school teacher position at a private high school for low income students in Denver in October and then was invited for a final interview but I chose not to interview because I thought the commute and the work would be too much while Daddy was in law school.

Then I interviewed for an immigration paralegal position in Boulder and was the managing attorney's second choice.

I interviewed and was offered a position as a Case Manager at a really great local community health center but I declined since it was part time and a big chunk of my income would be going solely to pay for your school which is close to $1000/month.

So finally, this past week I was in final interviews for two positions at Daddy's school. One was as the Coordinator for Student Leadership & Involvement and another was for a Proposal Analyst/Contract & Grant Administrator position. Since these are state jobs, there's a whole process you have to go through. For both positions I had to take a 2 hour written test, then the top 8 test scorers were invited to a 30 minute oral exam and then the top 4 scorers of the oral exam were invited for a 3 hour final interview with the department. It was a bit crazy. I scored #1 on the oral exam for the first position and #4 for the second position so I was invited for final interviews for both positions.

The first final interview was on Tuesday afternoon and I met with the staff, students, and two directors of the programs. I was there from 3:30-6:15pm. The final interview for the other position was from 10:00am-1:15pm. I met with the director, assistant director, the lead analyst, the lead contract & grant administrator, and then the other proposal analysts. Ahhh!! I liked both positions but was more excited about the position working with students since I've done that before and really liked it.

Anyhoo, on Friday I got a call from the director of the program letting me know that they were all very impressed and wanted to offer me the position. Yay! I'm very excited and start as the Coordinator for Student Leadership & Involvement on January 7th, 2 days after we get back to Boulder. The program that I will be running is a leadership program for undergraduate students on campus and I will also be the advisor to the senior council and the distinguished speakers board. My office is right in the middle of campus so hopefully Daddy and I can have lunch sometimes or walk to work together, we'll see! I'm a little nervous about the change and hope I still get to spend lots of time with you but I know it's for the best. Love you sweetie!
